Our Philosophy

By giving children the tools to better understand themselves, they develop problem solving skills, independence, confidence, and strength of character.

By teaching children how to live and work in a community, they learn to manage themselves in complex social situations, put others’ needs before their own, and to work with other strong individuals from all over the France and the world.

By helping children value the earth, they become stewards of the natural world and, in turn, value the efforts made by themselves and others to preserve, protect and appreciate the immeasurable gifts of the outdoor world.

And, by imbuing these actions with a deep sense of wonder, children grow to see and appreciate the beauty, magic, and possibility within themselves, others and the world.

Grounded in our mission, our philosophy for the last seven years has been to provide a quality, safe experience for children in the outdoors.  As youth development professionals, we teach life skills that are necessary for the creation of healthy, productive adults.

What is a Regional Park?

The Vercors stands at the outpost of the French Alps. A few passes and deep caves, both providing access to a range of varied landscapes where untouched and developed areas are combined, sculpted by generations of farmers, pastoralists and foresters.
It was with the aim of reconciling natural and cultural heritage with economical development that the Vercors was classified as a 'Regional Natural Park' in 1970. The Park is involved in the managment of natural areas, animals, agriculture, tourism, local workshops …. The Vercors Park covers 205,000ha and 85 municipalities.

Qu'est-ce qu'un Parc Naturel Régional ?

Un territoire de Parc naturel régional est classé pour une durée de 15 années par décret du Premier Ministre. Depuis 1977, le Parc du Queyras a vu son classement renouvelé deux fois en 1997 et 2009.

Au sein du massif du Mont Viso (3841 m), la réserve naturelle s'étend sur 2 295 hectares, entre 1700 m et 3287 m d'altitude. Elle est au cœur d’un dispositif de protection des patrimoines du Parc naturel régional du Queyras.

A l'extrémité Sud-Ouest de l'arc alpin, le vallon du Haut-Guil est très enclavé. Cette position géographique explique pour partie la présence d’un grand nombre de plantes et d’animaux endémiques.

Plusieurs centaines de millénaires ont été nécessaires à l'installation des animaux et des plantes qui vivent là, dans des conditions parfois extrêmes.

Plus d'une centaine d'espèces de vertébrés vivent dans les conditions climatiques extrêmes.

En hiver, blancs de plumage et de pelage, le Lièvre variable et le Lagopède alpin, peu repérables par leurs prédateurs, se fondent dans la nature enneigée.
